Tsontakis:   Violin Concerto No. 2   N.Y. Premiere
Gounod:   Symphony No. 1 in D major
Mozart:   Divertimento in D major KV 136 (125a)

American composer George Tsontakis's stunning violin showpiece, awarded the coveted Grawemeyer Prize in 2005, launches this excursion from the acclaimed contemporary to the classical sublime. It's not the first honor, by any stretch, for Tsontakis, next year's composer-in-residence for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Mozart's charmer and Charles Gounod's sumptuous blend of classical restraint and French élan complete the program.
